Starting in the Summer Term of the 2024–2025 academic year, the TOBB ETÜ Department of Economics is offering students a new opportunity to engage more closely with academic life. With the addition of two new courses—IKT497 – Practical Applications in Economics I and IKT498 – Practical Applications in Economics II, our students will, for the first time, have the chance to take on the role of a teaching assistant in a core theoretical course.

Students enrolled in these courses will assist in either a Microeconomics or Macroeconomics theory course. Their responsibilities will include organizing review sessions, guiding peers during problem-solving hours, and supporting homework review processes. Through this experience, students will have the opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge while also developing essential teaching, presentation, and communication skills in a real-world setting. To be eligible, students must be in at least their third year of study, have completed the relevant theoretical course with a grade of BB or higher, and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.30.

These courses have been designed as a meaningful complement to TOBB ETÜ’s flagship Cooperative Education program, which places strong emphasis not only on knowledge, but also on experience. For our high-achieving students, IKT497 and IKT498 will serve as a strong first step toward a future academic career.
