Our Student Buket Altınçelep Represented Our University at Vatican Youth Symposium 2018!
6 YEAR(S) AGOTOBB ETU Department of Political Science and International Relations fourth grade student and SDSN Turkey-Youth SDG Coordinator Buket Altınçelep took place as one of the SDSN Youth Turkey delegates at the 5th Vatican Youth Symposium.
The Vatican Youth Symposium, organized by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and SDSN-Youth, was held in Vatican City on 30-31 October 2018. Our Political Science and International Relations Department 4th grade student and our SDSN-Youth Turkey SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) Coordinator Buket Altınçelep and Bogazici University SDSN Youth Turkey Network Coordinator Emin Toygar Akay attended to the event together as SDSN Youth Turkish Delegates.
During the two-day symposium, young people exchanged information for Sustainable Development by collaborating with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals to implement solutions at national and regional levels. In this context, the SDSN-Academy, which is an active student club in our University stood out with its valuable work on the Sustainable Development Goals, and also gained appreciation during the event. Our representative Buket Altınçelep was praised for forming TOBB ETU SDSN Academy which was selected as a case study for being the first pioneer club among 83 countries within SDSN Youth and her cooperation with Emin Toygar Akay. Our student was also included in the core team as ’Project Officer” in SDSN-Youth.
Representative of civil society leaders, faith communities, businness owners, academics, advocates of SDGs and young leaders from all over the world participates in the Vatican Youth Symposium which is an event helps to strengthen global youth movements and bring young people from different disciplines together to achieve sustainable development. The main topics of the symposium are human rights advocacy, leadership, entrepreneurship and moral values, aiming to create a common opportunity to work together with competent people and experts in order to find solutions to the greatest challenges our world is facing.
